Complete a Career Self-Assessment
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter a self-report personality assessment created by psychologist, Dr. David Keirsey can help you identify occupations matching your temperament style.
This career assessment tool is correlated with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which is considered by many to be the “gold standard” in career assessments. If you are specifically interested in taking the MBTI, many trained and certified professionals in the GTA administer and interpret this assessment on a fee-for-service basis.
Alternatively, the Jung Typology Test is a free online tool based on Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers’s typological approach that can provide you with estimate of your MBTI type. While using this version is not as valuable as participating in full MBTI testing with a professional, it's free and can help you by suggesting some areas for further career exploration.
While the York University Career Centre does not administer formal career assessments, our career counsellors are certified and qualified to interpret them for you. To speak with a career counsellor, please register for a career counselling appointment.
In addition, the Career Exploration Guide & Workbook a self- assessment online tool, developed at the Career Centre can help you identify characteristics of your personality type, your interests, abilities, skills, values and career curiosities. If you need help completing the exercises or interpreting your results, please sign up for a Career Counselling appointment to speak with a career counsellor who can help to answer your career questions.
