Deciding What to Wear
Step 1 - Assess Your Personal Style
- What types of clothing do you feel most confident in?
- Are there certain types of clothing you avoid? Why?
- Consider your personal style, cultural norms, religious beliefs, gender identity, and expression.
Step 2 - Consider the Occasion
- What image do you want to project?
- What are the norms of the industry or company?
- What is the work environment like, and what tasks will you be doing?
- For networking events, consider the type of event, location, and time.
Step 3 - Make Your Decision
- Research the organization’s work culture and typical dress code.
- Aim for a balance between being slightly overdressed and feeling comfortable.
- Your outfit doesn’t need to be expensive but should be clean and neat.
- Don’t shy away from colour—just consider how it reflects your personality.
