1-on-1 Career Appointments
Counselling and advising appointments are available to help you with deciding on a career path or support for your job search.
Career Counselling
Master's and PhD Career Counselling
Are you having difficulty deciding on a career path? Unsure of how your degree may relate to your future career?
Book an appointment and meet confidentially with a trained career counsellor to discuss.
First session:
Your first counselling appointment will be a 20-minute session to help you:
- explore what you can do with your degree;
- learn how York’s Career Decision Making Model can help you understand the career decision-making process; and
- think about changing or declaring your major.
Additional sessions:
If you have previously met with a career counsellor, you can book another 50-minute session. Continue your conversation on topics such as:
- your career interests and developing an action plan;
- receiving referrals and building supports across the York campus; and
- discussing further education opportunities and next steps.
Are you a master's or PhD student who is thinking about the next steps in your career path?
Meet confidentially with a career counsellor to receive support while exploring careers both inside and outside of academia.
Career counselling can help you:
- develop a holistic approach to your career planning using York’s Career Decision Making Model;
- explore career transitions outside of academia; and
- access resources and referrals.
